For 50 years this building sat derelict and in danger of collapse. It was once the “Married Officers Quarters” of the Cascades Probation Station built in the 1840’s. The middle unit remains from the original three co-joined quarters. It was nicknamed by the prisoners ‘Rotten Row’.
Today, the Married Officers Quarters is the result of a major conservation project both challenging and complex, a place of historic significance and an example of excellence in conservation.
Convict built and with it’s preserved rustic exterior, “Rotten Row” hides a perfectly appointed and comfortable two bedroom self-contained cottage. It is furnished with stylish colonial décor and all the necessary modern amenities to make a stay here unforgettable
